The Architect’s Wife has been hot on the trail of some new succulent pots for quite some time now, so when she came across this awesome DIY in Sunset Mag which utilizes candle shells from Le Feu De Leau candles (sold at our downtown store!), she got busy planting her Panda plant and Echeveria in a spent purple candle shell she had at the furniture shop.

Find out how to create your own mini succulent garden below (it’s super easy)! Images by Cathy Copp

How To:

  1. Get yourself a Le Feu de L’eau candle from AW. Light that wick and let the aroma transport you to that faraway land you’ve been dreaming about!
  2. Wash your candle shell in warm water and let air dry.
  3. Take your spent candle shell and fill it with cactus soil leaving some room for your plants.
  4. Place the plants in the soil and fill in the gaps with more soil. Top off with pea gravel.
  5. Place the plant in a spot where you’re sure to notice it every day!

Fun Facts and Hot Tips:

  • Not the DIY type? Use your candle shell for pens & pencils and perch it on your desk.
  • Le Feu candles are sculpted underwater!
