Feast Raw Bar & Bistro is the culinary brainchild of Caroline Doern and Steve Kuntz which recently opened in the space formerly occupied by Seven Sushi off of Kagy. Abby Hetherington Interiors had the honor of designing the interior space the new eatery occupies. The decision to take on this project was an easy one, the passion and drive that Caroline and Steve have for their craft was inspiring. They have spent years refining their craft and Feast is a culmination of all that hard work.

When the Feast team approached Abby, they wanted a space, unlike anything Bozeman had seen before, a space that would represent their menu: high-quality, sustainable seafood, comfort food (think Salt Roasted Oysters, Vietnamese Chicken Wings & Pork Belly Carnitas) meets upscale bistro.

Abby took this to heart when she designed the space. She borrowed inspiration from the menu and bistro approach to dining. She used traditional elements to stay within the Bistro theme, but with a twist: when you enter the space you are greeted by a pair of 9-foot vintage benches from the Eagle in Butte, reupholstered in a lush striped blue velvet turned on the diagonal to add a sense of whimsy. The bar has a canopy of vivid green molding and substantial stools with scalloped bright blue metal seatbacks. Pivot left and you’re greeted by a large foliage wall. Are you noticing a theme? Vibrant blues, greens, foliage. Do you feel like you’ve taken a trip to the tropics? That’s the point.

The verdant green back bar at Feast is constructed of over 300 pieces of molding.

Abby wanted to create lots of private, intimate dining spaces, the geometric pendant helps achieve this objective.

“I thought about March in Montana and how we all have a major case of cabin fever. I want the people of Bozeman to feel like they have stepped out of Bozeman and that they are truly escaping for two hours. We really went for it with the back bar. There are over 300 pieces of molding pieced together to create the dramatic design. At first we were scared to use green, but when you use color consistently in a space, it makes complete sense out of complete chaos. Using computer technology, our friends at The Wrap Agency matched the green of the bar exactly with the foliage wallpaper they created for us,” Abby said. This attention to detail achieves Abby’s goal of creating an intimate dining experience that transports the diner to a tropical place.

“It was fun to work with people who have such passion and drive for their work. Caroline and Steve are so excited to bring a beautiful dining experience to Bozeman,” said Hetherington. Abby Hetherington and The Architect’s Wife is thrilled for the success of Caroline and Steve and Feast.

P.s. Abby’s says, “The Pork Belly Carnitas are a must!”
